Hi Mr. Barnes - My name is Jean Frakes, wife of Glen Frakes the history teacher from Gilbert, Az. who created the Palmetto Ranch Diorama which was destroyed. I have watched Glen pour his heart and soul into teaching history and create these wounderful student projects for thirty years. Many a night he spent in his classroom putting finishing touches on the diorama and gluing each soldier in his carefully planned place, after thousands of hours of research and planning each pose and fighting position for a realistic result. His dioramas are in museums all over the country after receiving rave reviews, awards and much gratitude until now. You can't imagine all we've been through since the horrible phone call when Glen called the museum and Jeff Hunt told him how horrible the diorama was, full of inaccuracies and how he had cannibalized it and dismantled it. It was like someone put a dagger in his heart. Glen had dedicated the diorama to General Scribner who had enlisted Glen to build Palmetto Ranch after loving his other dioramas housed at Texas Military Forces Museum (which Jeff Hunt told Glen he was also going to "Tweak" for accuracy). General Scribner had some special requests of Glen for Palmetto Ranch which Glen made sure were part of the diorama. We made several attempts to send packets of information to Adjutant General Rodriguez to alert him to this injustice. Several months have passed and there has been no attempt by anyone from thecommand staff to respond to our letters, pictures or concerns, only signed receipt cards by the man in charge of the mail room. It wasn't until now when the story was put in the papers has there been any chance for this man to be held responsible for his actions. I feel like he should not be allowed to remain in his position, a thorough investigation undertaken and charges to be placed for criminal vandalism. Thank you so much for your expressed interest in this cause. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Your great-grandfather would be very proud. Thanks again. Please contact me for any other needed information. Jean

Hi Mr. Barnes - I am Jean Frakes, wife of Glen Frakes, history teacher from Gilbert, Az. who built the Palmetto Diorama. I just would like to thank you for your comments that I just read. You can't even imagine all that we've been through since the first terrible phone call Glen had with Jeff Hunt who described how terrible the diorama was and how he had "cannibalized"it and how he had intentions of going through the other dioramas there like The Alamo and "tweak" them for accuracy also. For thirty years I have watched Glen pour his life and soul into his history teaching and the dioramas. Many a night was spent in his classroom or the shop where the near-completed diorama was housed gluing on the men in "just the right places". No one can even imagine how much intensity and effort was involved in each one. He has had dioramas placed in museums all over the country. The students, families and their children now can travel and view these with pride and accomplishment. All have met with raves of enthusiam, awards and gratitude until now. Glen was especially wanting to dedicate this diorama to General Scribner who personally proposed the creating of this diorama to Glen after seeing and loving all of Glen's other work. General Scribner had certain points of interest that were very important to him which Glen made sure were included. We have tried to send many packets of information to Gen. Rodriguez concerning the situation for a few months now, but no response except for the signed return receipt card by the man in the mail room. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I feel that Jeff Hunt should not be allowed to maintain his position, investigations should be done which so far seem to be almost impossible since he seems pretty well insulated . We feel that Jeff Hunt should be charged with criminal vandalism. Please feel free to contact me for any other information you may need and thank you again for your time and interest. Your great-grandfather would be proud of you. Jean
